Camels can be pretty fast runners. At the beginning of races, camels have been clocked upward of 40 mph.
This pace slows considerably as the race progresses, however. The average speed of a racing camel is about 25 mph.
A camel usually averages about 2 to 3 miles an hour when simply walking, 9 or 10 mph when trotting, and 16 mph during a gentle jog.
A pack camel can cover about twenty-five miles per day, on average.
