How Many Songs Were Written About Charles Lindbergh’s Famous Transatlantic Flight?

It used to be that any major news event would spur songwriters to compose quickie commemorative ballads and then rush to get the sheet music out almost as fast as the evening papers.

After Lindbergh’s 1927 flight, songwriters pumped out more than 250 songs in his honor, including the most famous of the bunch, “Lucky Lindy,” by Vemon Dalhart.
