In 1987, a British man called Ian Ashpole managed to fly with toy balloons.
He used a hot-air balloon to get up to an altitude of one and a quarter miles.
Then he jumped out, holding 400 extra-large toy balloons, each 2 feet in diameter.
He floated as in the last scene of the film The Red Balloon and released one balloon at a time until he was plummeting toward the ground at about 90 miles per hour.
Releasing the last of the balloons, he opened his parachute and landed safely.
