Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos, which orbit very close to the planet.
The moons are named after the characters in Greek mythology, and mean Fear and Panic in English.
Why the scary names?
Their discoverer, astronomer Asaph Hall, was poking fun of the fear he had of his wife.
On the night he discovered the two moons, he was tired and going to bed. His wife badgered him into getting back up and continuing to search the night sky.
Lo and behold, cursing under his breath, he spotted the moons and was in his wife’s debt for her nagging.
