E Ticket may sound like an Internet firm, but in the old days, an E ticket was a pass to the best rides at Disneyland.
Unlike the current system, in which you pay one price and then stand in line for rides, guests originally paid to be admitted to the park and then paid for individual rides.
This caused traffic jams at the more popular rides like the Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion.
To solve the problem, Disney created A tickets for the smaller, less impressive rides, B tickets for the rides just up from that, and so on, all the way up to E tickets.
Tickets were sold as a complete set at the admission stands. Most patrons were inclined to use up their books to get their money’s worth, spreading traffic over all the rides.
As a result of this system, in Southern California the term “E ticket” came to represent anything that’s the best.
