Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray soda has extract of celery seed in it.
Not much, but enough to clearly give it that clean celery taste.
The ingredients list?
Carbonated water, high-fructose corn syrup, citric acid, extract of celery seed with other natural flavors, sodium benzoate (preservative), and caramel color.
Believe it or not, Dr. Brown’s celery tonic used to have competitors.
Celro-Zola, Celery-Cola, and others offered celery-flavored drinks as well, but the original outlasted them all.
Dr. Brown’s other original hit was cream soda, which spawned many competitors still around today.
Dr. Brown’s sodas are kosher and can be found in many delis in New York city, but can be difficult to find outside the New York City and Miami regions.
