You would think that the highest price for a used car might have been for a historic one belonging to a president or a gangster.
But no. So far, the record has been $11 million, paid in 1989 for a 1963 Ferrari in pristine condition.
Ferrari, despite its famous name, didn’t produce many cars over the years.
In fact, the company built only about 50,000 cars from its founding by Enzo Ferrari in 1946 until his death 42 years later.
Some limited edition models were produced in numbers of only a few hundred.
Other, even more exclusive models, like the one sold in 1989, were produced in numbers of fewer than a dozen.
