New York is the number two state in wine production, but it’s not exactly neck and neck with the Golden State.
California produces 87% of the United States’ total and New York, 6%.
Of the California wine, only 9% comes from Napa and Sonoma counties, the most famous wine regions.
And here’s a sobering statistic:
Of all the wine made in the United States, fully a quarter is manufactured by the E & J Gallo Winery working, under various names, out of Modesto, California.
