Search engines constantly crawl the Internet, bookmarking and indexing websites for future searchers. It can take a while for a search engine to find you, which is why so many companies sell registration services in order to optimize your presence.
I recommend a different strategy for flippers. Following this strategy will direct people to your home page, where they can click on specific properties as your offerings change from time to time. In addition, searchers will be able to find particular sales pages on your site, even if you frequently change the house spotlighted on that page.
On your home page, include some information that would be useful to anyone searching for a home, particularly in your target demographic market if you have one. Mention certain keywords that searchers are likely to include in their search string if they are candidates for your property. As an example, for starter homes you might include the city, neighborhood, school districts, and the following words:
• for sale;
• easy commute;
• for sale by owner;
• good schools; and,
• any other amenities people are likely to search.
The search engines will take note of your home page and the key words on it.
Try to keep the home page exactly the same over time, with no changes. Provide a link to another page, where you will display information about your current property for sale. Use the same keywords on that page, as well.
Additionally, each time you have a different home for sale, update the same information page rather than creating a new one. This is because search engines will remember a particular page address, such as www.myhomesforsale.com/property. If you put information about your first flip on a page called “property,” and then you put information about your second flip on a page called “next property,” then some search engines will still direct people to the “property” page. But that piece of property will not exist anymore because you already sold that house. The interested buyers, who might be interested in buying your second house, will not be able to find you. This is why you want to keep the web page name the same, but simply update the information on that page.
