Finding detoxification programs for drugs and/or alcohol can be done in a number of ways. In areas that have crisis centers or a 211 Infoline, this is a good place to start. If you have commercial insurance, there will likely be facilities that are covered under your plan.
If you don’t have these in writing, you’ll need to call your insurer to see which programs are “in network.” Some programs will accept Medicare and Medicaid; others will not. Most states will also have a facility or facilities for people with minimal or no insurance coverage.
Crisis centers should be aware of these, and state agencies that oversee mental health and addiction services will have more information about their particular facilities and eligibility requirements.
