We have a disquieting sense that we’re tiptoeing into a minefield in the battle of the sexes when dealing with the topic of women and driving.
If you count merely the number of accidents, men have more because they drive more.
If you count how many accidents people have per mile they’ve driven, women have more.
Some people say that makes men the better drivers.
Some may argue that it is simply expectations or cultural norms. Let us explain.
In a particular culture, if poor driving skills for a specific gender are socially acceptable, there maybe a tendency for that group to use social norms as an excuse for bad driving.
What then happens is the baseline is set so low that there is little motivation to improve driving skills.
This is for parents. “It’s ok, she’s a girl” doesn’t cut it anymore. It’s all about self empowerment.
