James Randi is a professional magician who specializes in debunking claims of the paranormal.
Since the 1970s, Geller has claimed to be able to bend spoons and start broken watches with his amazing psychokinetic powers.
Randi said that Geller had “tricked even reputable scientists” with mere magic tricks of “the kind that used to be on the back of cereal boxes when I was a kid,” commenting, “Apparently scientists don’t eat corn flakes anymore.”
In 1991, Geller sued Randi for $15 million.
Four years later, the case was dismissed as a “frivolous complaint,” and Geller was ordered to pay almost $150,000 in court costs.
